ELEVENTH TOURNAMENT REVIEW | |
The Eleventh Mega Drive Championship marked the arrival of the "home and away" draw system and the random selection started the tournament with three fantastic games; Baron Von Hooton beat Professor Mizutani on Road Rash 2, Mr Smith pulverizing Doc Shakib on Super Street Fighter 2 and, the pick of the three, Baron Von Hooton scraping a tight victory against Lord Dilks on Micro Machines '96. Mr Smith dominated the Eleventh Championship, becoming the first member to win a tournament without dropping a single point, winning all eight of his games. The real excitment came in the battle for second to fourth place. Following a very disappointing start and finding himself in fourth place, Lord Dilks's form improved enabling him to finish in second place. Doc Shakib was able to finish in his highest league position since the Eighth Tournament, while Baron Von Hooton slipped into fourth. Professor Mizutani held up the table after failing to secure a single win and scoring just one goal, it came against Mr Smith on Super Street Fighter 2. Sir Jackaman had been lined up to take part in the Eleventh Mega Drive Championship, but was removed from the tournaments following a frosty encounter with Mr Smith. |

KNOCKOUT REVIEW | |
Princess Charlene proved to be the suprise package in the Knockout: beating Lieutenant Gareth on Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Doc Shakib on World Cup Italia '90 before being defeated in the final to Lord Dilks. This Knockout marked the first time, in this competition, that Lord Dilks battled Mr Smith and their game on NBA Jam went right to the wire, with Lord Dilks beating his opponent 51-49. Professor Mizutani made it to the semi-finals for the first time, beating Baron Von Hooton on Virtua Racing earning him passage from Round One, but he too came unstuck to Lord Dilks who won his second successive knockout after thrashing Princess Charlene, 6-0, in the Pete Sampras Tennis final. |
