SEVENTEENTH TOURNAMENT REVIEW:

Lord Dilks won his seventh Mega Drive Championship with six wins from eight games. He finished two-points a head of both second and third place in what was the most tightly contested league competition since the Seventh Championship. Captain Maltby ended up in second spot, level on points with thrid placed Commander Graham, but with a slightly improved goal difference. Doc Shakib never even showed any glimmers that he might defend his title for a second tournament and ended up involved in a relegation scrap with Lieutenant Gareth. Only one goal seperated the pair in the end and it was Doc Shakib who was spared the drop to Division Two. Earl Holbrook earned promotion to the top flight after four tournament in Division Two. He beat Professor King to the promotion place, with the latter imploding in the second half of the competition, surrendering a four-point advantage. Dame Yada returned for the first time since the Fourteenth Tournament and finished third. Old Spice Lock held up the table for the third successive tournament, however, on this occasion he managed to score some points, finishing with a total of three.

KNOCKOUT REVIEW:

Doc Shakib won the Tournament Knockout after beating Earl Holbrook on WWF Super Wrestlemania in the final. Earl Holbrook became the first Division Two member to reach the final of the competition since Lieutenant Gareth at the Fourteenth Championship. The Semi-Final on Wayne Gretzky Hockey became renowned for all the wrong reasons. With the game lasting nearly twenty minutes, and with neither Earl Holbrook or Professor King having any idea of the controls, the spectators resorted to mexican waves and renditions of "We will rock you" by Queen, to keep themselves amused. The other semi-final saw Doc Shakib overcome Lieutenant Gareth, the latter heavily defeated on Golden Axe 2. Lord Dilks and Commander Graham were the surprise eliminations from Round Two.

CHALLENGE REVIEW:

Lord Dilks won the Challenge Trophy for the third time in four tournaments. He was virtually unchallenged in the final where he dispatched Street Fighter novice, Earl Holbrook, with ease. Owing to there just being seven qualifiers from the Sixteenth Tournament, Earl Holbrook, Old Spice Lock and Professor King took part in a small league. While Earl Holbrook advanced to the final, Old Spice Lock took part in the third-place play-off where he was beaten by Doc Shakib on Eternal Champions. Captain Maltby and Commander Graham were both beaten in Round One.
