So that's what my legacy is, eh? I had expected my later results to overcome the early shenanigans! :P

Sir, many people have lifted trophies at Mega Drive Tournaments over the past 16-years, but you are (to my knowledge) the only person who has lifted a rubbish bin!

What do I need to know if I want to visit that place before the tournament?

The place is called The National Videogame Arcade and is located in the heart of Nottingham. It has been in business for almost two years and has recently taken on charity status. It is the only one of its kind in the UK, and, as the name suggests, serves as the principle Videogame Arcade in the UK.

They do charge admission, the details for which can be found on their website: https://www.thenva.com/
You will also find additional information on the sort of things that they regularly do at the center. They have a good record of exhibiting the latest technology used for game creation, as well as having a very strong leaning towards the beauty of retro gaming.

Two questions, fellow warriors.
Which public transportation would you recommend me, from London?
What time is the event supposed to start?

The event starts at 11am.

The train is a good way to get anywhere and runs from London St Pancras and is cheaper to book tickets in advance.

National Express buses are another way and are cheaper, but slower.

We can also see if anybody near to London is driving up.

My (late) thanks for the reply!

I will likely buy my tickets after my next paycheck. I was also thinking about advertising this on my place of work if they let me, maybe a few blokes will be interested.

Any news about the tournament games? Or is there a discussion to be had?

There are no "tickets" as such - more of a donation on the day.

There have been games decided on, and these will be announced in due course.

I'll proceed to donate to the national railways then, sir! :P

I'll eagerly await for the annoucement! Is the scoring system the same as last year?

The games for the 2017 Mega Drive Championship will be Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, WWF Royal Rumble, Micro Machines '96, Greatest Heavyweights, Super Street Fighter 2, Mega Bomberman and Pete Sampras Tennis.

Scoring will be the same as last year:
4pts for winning a round.
2pts for finishing second/as a losing finalist.
1pt for finishing third and fourth/as a losing semi-finalist.

@Administration: Great game selection (esp. Royal Rumble); it's a shame that I can't attend

@ Mr. Pires: Good luck, Sir!

Fantastic event this year, the games were awesome and, although Jay defended his title well, he was pushed hard on a number of games this year. Congratulations to Jay for this achievement.

A hearty well done to Gareth for being awarded the Mr Smith Order of Merit, for his unsporting display on Streets of Rage, level 7, where he simply jumped onto the side of the elevator and allowed Jay to slog his way through the foes. This was made even more brilliant when a signal hurled Gareth over the side of the elevator and to his death!

Thanks to Paul Holbrook for brining along an assortment of snacks and for filming the event.

Special mention to the two Dutch competitors who gave an enjoyable account of themselves on the Pete Sampras Tennis team game.

It was a really fun tournament!

Was a great day, guys. Standout moment for me was Ross making the Mega Bomberman finals tense; probably equalled by Gareth's filthy elevator shenanigans. :D

All good fun. Think I may write a thread with my thoughts on the day at some point. :)

Such a thread would be most welcome Jay.

For may part, it was a very enjoyable tournament. The atmosphere carried the event through to its conclusion well. It was good to see people just enjoying playing the games.

I am looking forward to 2018.

I second that Great idea.

Great day, and I think the most laughter came from Street Of Rage!!!!

I also want to say that, even though Paul finished last overall, I struggled against him at WWF!

Earl Holbrook fought valiantly on WWF.

I was surprised by Paul's zero-points. He gave a very competent performance on Sonic 1, only to be defeated by the timer. He played better than the score line said on both Super Street Fighter 2 and WWF, came close against Jay on Streets of Rage and recorded a good time on Virtua Racing and was unlucky to be drawn to qualify in Pete Sampras Tennis. To come out of all that with no points seems extremely cruel for his performances.

Also, he brought cakes and snacks. I think he should be awarded an honorary point for 2018.
