FIRST ROUND

The twenty participants were divided into four groups of five. Each group played four randomly drawn games, in a mini-knockout style, to determine rankings. Points were then awarded based upon game ranking with five points given to first place, three to second, two awarded to the member who finished third and nothing for being ranked fourth. Following the completion of the games the top two members in each league qualified for the second stage, as well as the member who finished in third with the most points. The final qualification place was awarded to the member who won a play-off game contested between the four remaining players who finished third.

SECOND ROUND

The twelve members who qualifed from round one are split into three groups of four. Four games are played in the same mini-knockout style with two players going head-to-head with the winners and losers paired off in a final game to determine ranking. Points for ranking is identical to the first round. Qualification was much more brutal at this phase of the tournament with only the members who finish top of each league advancing automatically to Stage Three. The three members who finish in second contested in a play-off to determine the final qualfication place.

The final four members to enter the knockout stage of the tournament were Fátima Campos, Filipe Semião, José Chança and Vítor. The semi-finals were played on Virtua Racing. Fátima Campos was beaten by Filipe Semião while José Chança earned victory over Vítor. In the final José Chança triumphed over Filipe Semião on Mortal Kombat 2 to become the winner of the First Tournament.
