STAGE ONE

The twenty members at the Fifth Tournament were divided into four groups of five members, with the top three in each group qualifying for the Second Stage. The members in each group faced each other on five different games with three points awarded for a victory and none for a defeat. All of the four seeded members in Stage One qualified for next round of the tournament with all but Orlando Silva finishing top. Hugo Vieira performed the best of all new members while the biggest shock happened in Group 1D where Vítor, once again, failed to progress beyond the tournaments opening stage.

STAGE TWO

The twelve qualifying members from Stage One were split into three groups of four. All the members in a group then played each other on four 4-player games with four points awarded to the winner, two for the person in second, one for finishing in third and nothing for finishing last. The top member of each group qualifies for Stage Three while those who finish in second place enter a play-off with the winner also qualifying for the Semi-Final. Jorge Esteves gave the best performance, winning three of the four games. Alberto Campos won the most difficult group of this stage, which featured names like Flávio Esteves and Tiago Pedro. Defending Champion, Filipe Semiaão, won Group 2C in which Fátima Campos pulled off the shock of the round - pipping Orlando Silva to the play-offs. She then went to beat both Luís Xavier and Flávio Esteves to take the final place in Stage Three.

STAGE THREE

In an all sport Stage Three, the four qualifiers from the previous round were paired off on a game of Pete Sampras Tennis. Filipe Semião was unable to defend his title, as he was beaten by Jorge Esteves, 6-2 . While Alberto Campos beat his sister, Fátima Campos, 6-0, to face Jorge in the World Cup Italia '90 final. This was Alberto's first time in the final, while Jorge had been there twice before (and won both). Alberto took control of the game early on and by the end of the first half was 4-1 in the lead. The second half was a much closer affair with the defence dominating. Jorge was unable to close his opponent's advantage and the final score was 5-2 to Alberto.
