Members select three games to compete on. Winning
one of your "home" games is worth two-points while
winning an "away" game is worth three-points.
STAGE ONE
The twenty members of the Sixth Tournament were divided into five groups of four. The five best members were seeded for this stage, so it would be impossible for them to play the others until Stage Two of the tournament. Each member picked three games to play the others in the group on with two-points awarded for a "home win" and three-points given for an "away win". The top two in each group qualified for the Second Phase while the five members who finished in third place entered a play-off, through which Arsénio Ferraz and Hugo Vieira were able to advance to the next part of the competition.

STAGE TWO
The twelve qualifying members from Stage One were divided into three groups of four. Once again, the qualifiers picked three games to play their opponents on with two-points given for a "home win" while an "away win" was rewarded with three-points. The three members who topped the tables qualified while the three finishing in second place entered a play-off with the winner qualifying to the semi-finals. Three times finalist, Jorge Esteves, proved the biggest shock in this section of the tournament with defeat to Arsénio Ferraz on Shaq-Fu costing him a place in the final four.

STAGE THREE
The Semi-Finals were decided upon basketball game NBA Live '97. It was here that both of the Campos's (Alberto and Fátima) were knocked out of the competition. Rookie Ferdinand Menéndez continued to impress by booking his place in the World Cup Italia '90 final. Here he played David Magueijo and although the game of World Cup Italia '90 was one of the dullest finals on record the final score of 2-2 required a penalty shootout to decide the winner and it was on this that David Magueijo claimed the title of Mega Drive Champion.
