According to Sprocle.com's name all the countries in the world test 96% of people know of the United States of America. Approximately 300,000,000 people live in this United States. You might even be an American yourself. For those 4% of people who have never heard of the United States of America (and how these people can access the Internet from the rocks they live under is another matter entirely) it is the worlds sole superpower with an economical, techonolgical and military supremacy over the entire globe. Yet it was not until Saturday 24th October 2009 that the United States joined the global entity of Mega Drive Championshipary! Of course, North America never recieved the Mega Drive, as such, and it was renamed Genesis. The Americas also boast a wide array of 16-bit games that were never released outside their continent.

In 2008 the Gamesboro video game store held a Genesis Cup featurning games on Combat Cars, Eternal Champions, Gunstar Heroes, Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam Tournament Edition, Outrun and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This event set the basis for the 2009 Georgia Genesis Championship with the notion of participants joining together to form teams, however, the games were reduced to six and a process of voting was used to determine which titles were used in the competition.

After four and a half hours of 16-bit awesomeness the consoles fell silent (well not strictly true as the contestants continued to play friendlies for another three hours!). The competition had been hard fought, with three teams all having a relaistic opportunity of winning the title when going into the final game. In the end it was Team 2 Legit 2 Quit, who never finished less than third on any of the tournament games, who won the 2009 Genesis Cup, three points ahead of second placed Team Gamesboro. It is worth noting that it wasn't a fix that Team Super Nintendo finished bottom with no points.
