Golden Axe 2 was introduced at the Second Tournament as a replacement to Golden Axe, which was used in the origianl Mega Drive Championship. Key to its success is the unique countdown method of scoring, which can lead to some awesome battles on what is a distinctly average game. There were plans to remove Golden Axe 2 following the Third Mega Drive Championship and replace it with Super Street Fighter 2, however, this plan never really moved out of the idea stage. Lord Dilks and Doc Shakib are the two best current members on Golden Axe 2, along with former member, Mr Smith. It is impossible to truly say who is the best, although Mr Smith statistically holds this rank. Golden Axe 2 was added to the Division Two game roster at the Fourteenth Championship, but the game was not drawn, and it reverted to the top league only before the Fifteenth Championship.
