NHL '97 was added to the Division Two pool at the Sixteenth Mega Drive Championship replacing NHL '96, which had been used in both leagues at the Fourteenth Tournament before its removal from Division One at the Fifteenth Championship. With statistical advantage always going to games played in Division One it seemed unfair that these members would be regarded as better players in a Division Two game and so NHL '97 was added. Earl Holbrook is ranked as the best player.
