LEAGUE - DIVISION ONE |
Doc Shakib won the league competition for the third time in his long and eventful tournament career. Although beaten by Commander Graham in the opening game of Streets of Rage 3, Doc Shakib went on to win his remaining seven games and finished four-points ahead of second placed Commander Graham. Lieutenant Gareth finished in third and successfully avoided both the duel for the title and the battle for relegation. Earl Holbrook and Professor King duelled to maintain their place in the top league and, in the penultimate game, Earl Holbrook defeated Professor King in a very tight game of Streets of Rage 3 and condemned the Division One rookie back to the lower league after just one tournament.

LEAGUE - DIVISION TWO |
Division Two's numbers swelled with the increasing reputation of the competitions. With seven members participating it was decided to up the number of promotion places to three and expand Division One for the Twentieth Championship. Fireman Sam took the lower league by storm in order to clentch top spot and the first place in Division One. Captain Maltby, having been relegated at the Eighteenth Tournament bounced back immedeately in second place. Samurai Taguchi made up the promotion trio. The Nineteenth Mega Drive Championship will also be noted for the last stand of perpetual Tournament loser, Old Spice Lock, who was only elevated from the bottom spot owing to points deductions for The Plumb and Liam Forrest Esquire.

The largest knockout to date was contested by twelve members. Commander Graham won the Knockout for the first time in his history after a convincing victory, on Mega Bomberman, against Division One rival, Doc Shakib. Liam Forrest Esquire and The Plumb were the most successful Division Two members this time around, both reaching the Semi-Finals. The Plumb also provided the biggest shock of the Knockout when he beat Lieutenant Gareth in Round One on WWF Super Wrestlemania.

Sonic the Hedgehog replaced Elitserien '96 as the Challenge game at the Nineteenth Mega Drive Championship. The challenge was to race through Green Hill Zone Act 1 with the fastest time claiming victory. This was the first time in Mega Drive competitions (excluding Brazil) where a 1-player game has been used and, in spite of many members spending time practicing, the pressure was perhaps the defining factor. Professor King won the Sonic the Hedgehog Challenge with a time of twenty-seconds. He was the only man to score under half-a-minute with Captain Maltby and Commander Graham tied on thirty-seconds

THE DIVISION TWO CUP |
Professor King had won the Division Two Cup for the past two tournaments, but with his promotion to Division One, a new member had to lift the cup. Vetran member, Captain Maltby, was the one who won the competition. His experience was vital, as he beat The Plumb in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 final.
