Mega Drive Championship Article Archive 2010 - 2013

Listed chronologically, Mega Drive Championship articles from the years 2010 until 2013. Following the 2010 peak of the European Mega Drive Championship in Germany, the Mega Drive Championships fell into a state of decline and apathy. Mid-2010 marked the final tournament to be contested outside of Europe and the end of the epic Lisbon series of events, which had successfully produced the three times winners of the European Mega Drive Championships. Tournaments continued in England and Germany, but even these stars started to fade. 2013 saw the English competitions begin their 3-year sabbatical, while the German events would carry on for a little while longer yet. Each page retains its historic design and shows the evolution of the tournaments and the website over time.

The State of the Championships: 2013

On the 12th February President Barack Obama gave the 2013 State of the Union Address. His task could have been worse; he could be discussing the state of Mega Drive Championshippery, in which 2013 appears a pivotal year for the competitions. Declining attendances and general apathy seem to be rife in all domestic leagues and the cancellation of the 2012 European Mega Drive Champion casts a shadow over the contests.

The Twenty-Fourth English Championship Review

Legends of England assembled in much smaller numbers than previously hoped. Talk of three divisions was transformed into doubt over enough participants to have two leagues, however, passion and purity remained rife and those in attendance were part of something magical, as Doc Shakib looked to defend his tournament title from Commander Graham, Professor King and The Plumb.
